Adult Programs
The Spiritual Journey
United Methodism was built on small groups. In the early years people would gather in groups that were called bands and societies. They gathered for fellowship as well as to share about their spiritual lives. They asked each other, “How is your Heart today?” We learn best in community, through the sharing of our thoughts, feelings and convictions. We also learn best not by being dogmatic but by asking questions.
We have two classes that meet on a regular basis during the year: Adult Sunday School and Wednesday Bible Study.
Our Sunday schedule during the school year is two services at 8:45 and 11:00; in between the two services is Sunday School hour for all, including adults. Adult Sunday School is a discussion oriented class where we read a book together, reflect on it and share our thoughts about it.
Some of our past studies are: Living the Questions by Felten & Procter-Murphy; On God’s Side by Jim Wallis; The Heart of Christianity by Marcus Borg; Falling Upward by Richard Rohr
Our Wednesday Bible study meets in person at 9:30am with the option to join via Zoom. Our approach is to use all the tools we have to better understand the text. This means learning about the context – social, historical and economic. And we look at the literary context, the structure, the use of words and or the text that was redacted.
United Women In Faith
Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month 9:30am and second Thursday of each month at 7pm, except July and August.
UWF is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in global ministries of the church.
We enjoy fellowship, bible reading, and learning about the UWF missionaries throughout our country and world. Our local unit raises money to buy fresh fruit for the Everett Women’s Gospel Mission, participates in the UWF reading program to broaden our understanding of our world and to grow spiritually, sells Fair Trade items to help women in other countries attain a living wage and rise out of poverty, and makes quilts for local distribution.
Each year the members assemble handmade valentines which are sold with the proceeds going to local charities, and a shelter for youth.
Cedar Cross Men’s Group
Cedar Cross has a very active Men’s Group that participates across the calendar year in a variety of ways.
The Men’s Group meets the first Saturday of each month at Cedar Cross at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast and fellowship. All men are welcome.
