Cedar Cross UMC is an inclusive Christian community. We believe in an expansive understanding of the Gospel–meaning that the goodness of grace and love reflected in the Scriptures–goes beyond our limited understanding of it. The Good News of Christ’s love cannot be hoarded by some at the expense of others. People of all ages, races, nations, classes, abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, family constructs, and relationship statuses are welcomed here.

We reject false teachings that would use Christ to secure power over others. Instead, we see in Christ someone who sought liberation and life for all. This extends to the whole of God’s creation. We understand ourselves as stewards of the earth tasked with its care and keeping.

We believe that the promises contained in Scripture declaring the coming of God’s Way in the world is a promise for here and now (not only for a heaven far away). When we pray “Thy Kingdom / kin-dom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” this means it is our responsibility as people of faith to live into God’s hope now. Through worship, service, study, small groups, and fellowship we commit to grow together so we are better able to live out the task of love, justice, and peace in our neighborhoods.
